Flamingos
A large breeding colony of Lesser Flamingos was observed in the Little Rann of Kutch in August 1998 at a distance of 7-8 k.m. in south of wasraj Bet and 9.3 km west of Jilandhar Bet. According to an estimate about 70,000-75,000 birds nested in an area spread over 250 acres. A total of 30,000 adult birds and 25,000 chicks were sighted at the breeding colony. Thus it was confirmed that the LRK as an important breeding area for the Lesser Flamingos. It is likely that both greater and Lesser Flamingos nest in large and small colonies in the LRK.

Other records show smaller colonies in 1978-1994 in the LRK and one of the largest colonies was recorded in the Greater Rann of Kutch in 1973. In the year 1993 a Caspian tern breed in one of the Khijadiya Bet of the region was also found.
